The Association for Black Individuals and Families (ABIF) is an organization that is dedicated to empowering Black communities by providing culturally responsive mental health and substance use support. As a non-profit organization, we are focused on fostering equitable access to services, addressing the unique challenges faced by Black individuals, youth, and families, and combating anti-Black racism. Through education, advocacy, and compassionate care, it supports the well-being, resilience, and healing of Black individuals, including youth, and families, helping them navigate and thrive in a world free from racial discrimination and barriers.

Vision Statement

To create a community where Black individuals, youth, and families experience mental health and substance use support that is equitable, accessible, and free from anti-Black racism. Our vision is to be a leading advocate for systemic change, promoting inclusion, healing, and the empowerment of Black communities, ensuring that all individuals, including youth, have the tools, resources, and opportunities to live resilient, healthy, and thriving lives, contributing to a more just and equitable society.

Mission

Mental Health

To provide culturally responsive mental health and wellness services to Black individuals, youth, and families, including counseling, mentorship, and support programs that address mental health challenges, substance use, trauma recovery, and stress management.

Education

To promote community education and awareness through workshops, events, and advocacy efforts, focusing on mental health, systemic inequities, and anti-Black racism. This includes developing programs aimed at building resilience, empowerment, and self-sufficiency in Black communities.

Advance Policy

To advance systemic change by advocating for policies that improve access to mental health services, reduce stigma, and integrate culturally appropriate care into healthcare systems. This includes supporting marginalized groups and influencing mental health policy at the local and national levels.

Heal and Empower

To foster community healing and empowerment by creating safe spaces for individuals to share experiences, participate in support groups, and engage in programs that encourage personal and community growth, while promoting inclusion and social justice.
